About Epicattleya Rene Marques Orchids

Epicattleya Rene Marques 'Flame Thrower' is a compact hybrid orchid resulting from a cross between Epidendrum and Cattleya species. It is known for its vibrant orange-red flowers with a distinct yellow lip. The blooms are medium-sized, typically around 2–3 inches across, and can last for several weeks. This hybrid often blooms in spring and summer, and with proper care, may flower more than once a year.

This orchid prefers bright, indirect light, similar to the needs of Cattleya orchids. It thrives in intermediate to warm temperatures, ideally between 60–85°F (15–29°C). Good air circulation and regular watering are important, but the potting medium should be allowed to dry slightly between waterings to avoid root rot. A well-draining orchid mix is recommended.

Epicattleya Rene Marques 'Flame Thrower' is suitable for windowsill growers, hobbyists, or greenhouse environments. Its compact size makes it manageable in small spaces, and its colorful flowers provide visual interest when in bloom. With consistent care, it is a rewarding orchid for both beginners and experienced growers.
