🌵 About Cactus

Cacti are hardy, drought-tolerant plants native to arid regions, especially deserts of the Americas. Known for their thick, fleshy stems that store water, cacti come in a variety of shapes and sizes—from small globular types to tall, columnar varieties. Many species also produce beautiful, vibrant flowers.

✨ Features:

  • Water-Storing Stems: Succulent stems store moisture, enabling survival in dry conditions.

  • Spines Instead of Leaves: These reduce water loss and protect the plant.

  • Slow Growth: Most cacti grow slowly, making them ideal for long-term houseplants.

  • Flowering Capability: Some species bloom spectacularly under the right conditions.

  • Low Maintenance: Cacti thrive on neglect, making them perfect for busy or new plant owners.

🌞 Care Details:

Light:

  • Requires bright, direct sunlight (6–8 hours daily). A south- or west-facing window is ideal.

Watering:

  • Water sparingly. Allow the soil to dry completely between waterings.

  • During the growing season (spring/summer): water every 2–4 weeks.

  • In winter (dormant period): water once a month or less.

Soil:

  • Use a well-draining cactus or succulent mix. Avoid water-retentive soils.

Temperature:

  • Thrives in warm temperatures (65–90°F / 18–32°C).

  • Protect from frost (ideally keep above 50°F / 10°C).

Fertilizing:

  • Feed with a diluted cactus fertilizer during the growing season (once a month).

Potting:

  • Use containers with drainage holes. Repot every 2–3 years if the plant outgrows its pot.
